History
- 1957 – Empyrean’s founder, Nigel Harvey, was originally involved with guided missile research at EMI laboratories in England.
- 1960 – Nigel came to Canada to participate in anti-submarine warfare research.
- 1963 – Nigel joined RCA (Montreal). He was then invited to join the founding group of a new company which was developing new nuclear radiation detectors. He became Production Manager, then Sales & Marketing Manager, and set up agencies and sales offices in 22 countries. Nigel was eventually promoted to President.
- 1974 (January) – Nigel founded his own consulting company, N. P. Harvey & Associates, which was the precursor to The Empyrean Group. In the early years, his new company designed factories, conducted employee placement, consulted on venture capital, and became a government/industry liaison for marketing, export development, etc.
- 1987 – Revenue Canada establishes the SR&ED program. Nigel worked closely with the government to interpret the new tax regulations, and helped to pioneer the concept of "shop floor” R&D.
At this stage, N. P. Harvey & Associates begins to specialize in SR&ED.
- 1991 (February) – N. P. Harvey & Associates becomes The Empyrean Group Ltd.
- 2000 (October) – Empyrean is acquired by Carlin, Charron & Rosen LLP (CCR).
- 2001 (January) – The Empyrean Group (2001) Ltd. and joins the CCR Advisory Group.
- Present – Empyrean continues to service Canadian clients while its sister company, CCR Cost Recovery Services, services US clients.
