The Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) is administered by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). In addition to other services, IRAP can provide financial support to qualified small and medium-sized enterprises in Canada to help them develop technologies for competitive advantage.
In terms of support for R&D, IRAP may be thought of as a grant-based counterpart to the SR&ED program. However, an important difference between these two forms of assistance is that, while SR&ED is a tax credit claimed after work takes place, IRAP is a forward-looking program that requires approval of a detailed proposal before work can commence.
Empyrean can assist you with your IRAP proposal by helping to prepare the following components:
- Project Plan;
- Business & Marketing Plan;
- Proposal document.
The first step in the process is to make contact with the IRAP Industrial Technology Advisor (ITA) assigned to your geographic area.
